I feel like Goldielocks with the Chocolate Con Letche at the hotel. The first was perfect, the second wasn't thick and the third was very thick but tasted better than the second.
We drove to Toledo this morning. We found the FREE parking just past the train station. We then walked over to the train station where we just missed the Hop-On Hop-Off bus and we didn't realize that the bus in the parking lot with all the pictures on the side was a free bus that would take you to a point up on the hill. But we did finally find an office that sold tour packages. After we purchase our tour package we jumped in a taxi for 4.50 Euro that took us up to the big square on the hill.
We went to the Cathedral Saint Mary of Toledo for our first guided tour.
The craftsmanship is truly amazing.
Not only is it beautiful but it also tells the history of the country.
The secret door that the choir uses to come and go.
El Grecco placed his painting in the church but they did have to move it to a different place so that while mass is going on people could still see it without interupting the congregation.
Yahweh
I guess this is what their lockers look like.
We lost Elaine and Fred after the tour of the Cathedral. They thought they would get a head start to the next place we would be touring but were given the wrong directions. We made it to the next location just in time for the tour. She showed us the relics that are on display. These are body parts from different "saints".
The pain of Mary is always represented by a dager.
This was another day of up and down walking. Nothing is flat in the old town.
I don't think I want to stay at this hotel.
The last stop on the tour was at the wall gate.
These walls were made for little people.
The tiles on the towers are done in a mosaic pattern to show the symbol of the king, which one we do not remember, to many kings to remember.
As you can see the stairs inside the wall up to the tower are very steep and narrow.
We headed back up to the square where the cab had dropped us off earlier to see if Fred and Elaine were there. But we did not see them. We looked in Fred's favorite hang-outs McDonald's and Burger King.
So we went tried to find the other sites that were covered by our tour bracelet.
I want one of these jars of Nutella!!!!
More stairs.
And you should have seen how fast we got down those stairs when Roger rang the bell.
I would have loved to get in the water with these girls.
Can you see the mans face?
We finally did find Elaine in the square. So we jumped in a cab and went back to the train station to pick up Fred. He had found a cool place to sit while Elaine came looking for us. It was an extremely hot day with temperatures around 116 degrees. So we got in the van and headed to Cordoba.
We stayed at the Hostal Alcazar
We got settled in and then of course we headed down the road/walking street and found this cute little restaurant.
There is always plenty of entertainment at dinner.
Roger's dinner a ham and cheese rolled, breaded and fried.
My dinner was the winner of the night. Beef tenderloin with fries.
