July 12, 2015 - Paris - St. Sulpice Church & Notre Dame

I walked down to the neighborhood bakery and bought some fresh croissants and chocolate chip bread to go along with breakfast.
Then we were off to listen to the St Sulpice Church organ.  Mass went a lot longer so the Sunday organ recital didn't start until 12:30 or so.

Fred and Elaine sat in the back row to listen.
I sat on the side for a little while.  I did recognize one of the songs they sang by the music but other than that I just used the time to pray.

We listened to some of the organ recital after the service while we looked around the church.

Let me just say these chairs are good for keeping you awake during church as they are not very comfortable, but I do like that they are spaced apart.
This street is ready for Bastille Day with their French flag banners waving.
From the church we headed to the Jardin du Luxembourg.
Having a little fun along the way.

There are all kinds of statues throughout the park.

I think it must be mating season for the pigeons as they are all fluffing up to make themselves look better.

There were people taking advantage of the beautiful weather to play tennis,
a very intense game of chess,
 and to ride a pony.

The guy who was renting out these little sail boats for 3.50 for a 1/2 hour was making a killing.
They are powered by the wind and a stick that you can push them from the side of the fountain with.  Some of them were really moving at a pretty good pace so we thought they had a motor on them but when we saw them out of the water there wasn't any type of propulsion mechanism except the sails.

It looked & sounded like they were setting up for a concert in the park so we decided to go grab a sandwich and come back to eat it. By the time we finished our sandwiches they still had not started so we moved on.

Fountain Saint-Michel
This young man had the audience in the palm of his hand.  I am sure he made more tips than the gold guy.
We headed on to Notre Dame.

The line to get into Notre Dame was very long at this point we are half way there but luckily it moves along pretty quickly.

I don't think that I want to stay at this hotel either.
Elaine and Fred purchased their hop-on hop off bus & boat tickets with LOpen Tour at the little TI station so that they will be ready to go tomorrow.
We decided to walk along the Seine river since it was a cool day on our way we passed the Palais de Justice
But what was really interesting is the street filled with everything for and including fowl.  I would really like these chickens but I don't think they would survive at my house.

There were some other pigeons running loose next to these caged ones and I forgot for a moment that they were wild ones instead I thought they had gotten loose.

Our first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower.
These little boys were so cute.  I never did see them let go of each other.
We did a quick walk through of the Louvre area.

As it started sprinkling we decided maybe it was time to find the nearest metro station.

Let's just say it is quite comical to watch Fred and Elaine try to push their way through the metro turnstile.  The problem was that they were trying to use their tickets from this morning.
Once we got back to the apartment Roger and I headed to les Saveurs de Batignolles to get a baguette for dinner.

We did get the baguette but we also got some dessert too.
Elaine and Roger liked the apricot custard tart.  Fred and I loved the chocolate, raspberry pistachio cake.  We were good though and did not eat our dessert before eating our pork steaks and fried potatoes.
