June 28, 2015 - Madrid Royal Palace, Cathedral and the Mercado

This was a fun chair that they had in the lobby of our hotel.

We arrived at the Royal Palace before it opened.

 We were able to then take pictures of the palace and the cathedral without a lot of people in the way.

 Once we got our tickets we waited for Fred and Elaine to arrive.  They had gone to breakfast and were meeting us here.

 They arrived just a few minutes later.

 Roger decided to take his turn guarding the palace.

 After visiting the palace we went  into the Almudena Cathedral,

 during Sunday Mass

I can't even imagine how disruptive that must be for those sitting in the back.  We left pretty quickly and grabbed the bus to the San Miguel Mercado.

Roger was going to grab one of the cherries from the bottom of the stack just to see what would happen.

This place was packed with people grabbing their lunch.  With so many options what would you choose?

Meat

Cheese

Fish

Olives

Candy

Dessert

Wine

Empenadas

I know for a fact I would not pick shredded fish.  This stuff looked like worms. YUCK!!

Roger headed to the Arina Sofia museum while the rest of us went back to the hotel.  I then headed to the grocery store and bout a salad, some fruit and some Sangria and made myself a wonderful lunch.
