July 6, 2015 - Arrive in Barcelona

After driving around Roger gave up trying to find where to drop Elaine, Fred and the luggage off before returning the rental car to Sixt at the Sants train station.  So once we dropped the car off we grabbed a taxi.  He dropped us off and we went into the Farmacia that we were supposed to pay and pick up the keys to the apartment and within a short time we were on our way to our new home for a few days.
Through the little door.
And up 47 narrow stairs.
Only to find that we had to either go up
or down even more stairs once inside to get to our rooms.
Elaine and Fred chose the upper room. Roger and I took the lower room.

It didn't take long for them to assume the position in the living room but with no luck in getting the TV to work.  Of course that is after the washer was started since we have been without one since leaving Porto 11 days ago.
I headed out to the gocerry store.

After Roger and I ate lunch we all headed out to check out the neighborhood.

We stopped and had some drinks on te beach.  We saw lots of lobsters laying on the beach.  I can't imagine how much pain they will be in later tonight.
Some people are very creative building their sand sculptures.
And some take the easier route.
The only thing saving us here is the ocean breeze otherwise it is still very warm.

Fred & Elaine stayed back at the apartment as Roger and I went for an evening stroll.
Wonder what is behind these doors.
The Christopher Columbus monument that we drove around a few times earlier today.

 This guy was just creepy.

We were like fish going up stream on the Ramblas.

 I like this lamp post.
Placa de Catalunya is beautiful at night with the lighted fountains.

But my favorite thing to see at night in Barcelona is...the Casa Batllo.  Yes I like to see Roger too.  We walked back to the apartment via the path to the apartment that we had stayed in last time we were in Barcelona, with a quick stop at the ice-cream shop just so that we would have enough energy to make it back home.
