On Roger's list of things that he wanted to do on this trip was going to the Alhambra. So before we left home I purchased tickets online. I purchased a general ticket which gives you access to all the visitable spaces (Alcazaba, Nasrid Palaces, Generalife, Carlos V Palace, Public baths and the Mosque). When I purchased our tickets we selected the 8:30 am time slot to enter the Nasrid Palace. Time slots for later in the morning had sold out already.
Since we were leaving the hotel today we had to make sure we loaded all of our bags in the car before we headed out to catch a taxi up to the Alhambra.I am glad we got there early and before the bus loads of people showed up.
They only give you a half hour window to enter the palace so if you are late you are tuff out of luck.
The craftsman ship is truly amazing.
There is water everywhere.
There are women moping the floors constantly. As you might have seen in one of the above pictures there are a lot of birds flying around.
The baths were closed as they are working on them.
The gardens are beautiful.
The view from the Alhambra to were we ate dinner the night before,
I think this is a jail cell.
They worked the 8 point star into the garden also.
Water is moving everywhere.
You would see different patterns in the stone walkways.
Roger spotted the frog on the lilly pad.
Fred and Elaine were waiting for us. Since we take a while since we are taking pictures along the way.
The frames of what used to be homes.
Elaine spotted the tiny lizard.
There was even water flowing down the stair walls.
I am not sure we would have gone up the stairs if we would have know that the building was not open. So we just headed down some other stairs.
Fred's hotdog wasn't as pictured on the menu. He has now sworn off ordering another hot dog on this trip. They don't really know what mustard is and the hotdogs are from a can.
I on the other had was happy with my pasta.
So we are on the road again. This time we are headed towards Barcelona, thinking we will stop in Valencia.Roger finally pulled over so that we could stretch our legs. This is supposed to be a picnic area. But no one in their right mind would be stopping here to eat. It is HOT!!
So more views from the car.
I got a little excited when we spotted a sign for IKEA.
As Roger says "People are dieing to take a ride in that vehicle".
Well after a crazy attempt to find someplace in Valencia to stay for the night we headed up the road. Since it was a Saturday night and this is a beach area we were very glad that we could find any place to stay. Can you believe that we even got to see some fireworks on the 4th of July in Spain.
