So today we thought we would just take an easy stroll into the Old Town Square and then see some old homes but as our history here in Prague it turned into another mountainous adventure. We always look for the roof of the museum in this picture to know where we came from because our apartment is just a couple of blocks behind it.
The other landmark we use is the crane on top of the buildings on the right. We use the crane to navigate the streets to get back because you never really know which way you are going once you get into the winding neighborhood streets.
We got to the square in time to get a spot to watch the Astronomical Clock strike 12:00. There are all sorts of symbolisms on the clock.
They have a trumpeter play from the top of the tower.
We walked across the Charles bridge again.
There were a lot less people out today so it made it nice and relaxing.
That is until we headed up the road to see the historic old homes on Nerudova Street. Pam hadn't read the steep part in the Rick Steve's Prague guide book until we got back to the apartment. "It looks so flat on the map," per Pam. Well we were just about to turn around and head back down, when I noticed a wall just a little up ahead and I decided if I am this close might as well check out the view.
I don't think Mike cared about the view as much as catching his breath. But I think he appreciated both. Well then since we were almost to the top by now we just went ahead and finished our climb.
Which put us back on the top of the hill that the Petrin Tower is on. But you have to love the views from up here.
And when we got to the bottom we were rewarded with ice-cream cones and not with just one scoop but two to four scoops (you can guess who got the four scooper).
Now we needed to get back so we could at least rest for a little bit because the van was coming to pick us up for dinner at 7:25. Of course that van ride was an E ticket adventure ride all on its own.
As we entered the dining area they gave each one of us a small glass of mead.
That we enjoyed once we got to our table.
We were table mates with a couple that the wife was born in Fresno and her mother still lives there. It is amazing what a small world we live in.
The food was plentiful and yummy.
It was fun watching them dancing and playing music. We even learned a new dance that we will be teaching our friends when we get home that involves men and a broom.
We had a wonderful day and are looking forward to Strudel day tomorrow.
I had to google mead. Was it good? I do want to see Mike and Roger dance with a broom!
