July 13th Pompeii

We had a good laugh at breakfast this morning because a woman filled a bowl with coffee since a cup was too small, so the guys kept making remarks about her drinking it like a cat.  Sorry no pictures.  We then had a 20 minute train ride in a train with NO air-conditioning with many earthy smells.  We did however pass the time talking to a couple from England that were on their way to  Sorrento.  We just followed the crowd once we arrived in Pompeii to the ruins which were very close by.

Once we climbed the stone road to the city we were greeted with a view of the ruins of the huge city of Pompeii.

It was larger than we ever imagined.

Entrance to the Colosseum.

The streets were used as their gutters so they placed large stepping stones so they could cross without stepping in the drainage. The chariots crossed between the stones and left these tracks. Even though it was HOT today we continued exploring until mid afternoon. The amazing part of the day was looking at life like it was in 70 AD.

  1. It looks historically amazing. However, I'm taking note of how many times you say HOT and CLIMBED on this trip. :)
