Today we had to head out early since we needed to be on the train by 8:00 so we could get to Versailles by 9:00. We took three different trains with the last one being the RER to get out Versailles. Along the way we picked up some new friends from Taiwan that were also heading there that weren't quite sure how to get there it was kind of like the blind leading the blind but we did manage to get there without any mishaps as long as you don't count having to run to the train because we lined up to far from the boarding area.
The Palace of Versailles is the palace that all other palaces try to out do. It is totally opulent. Our favorite part of the whole day though was the gardens but most of all the Queen's Hamlet which was built for Marie Antoinette's children's amusement. We just wanted to move in. It was like entering a Thomas Kincaid picture (sorry Mike). The pictures just can't do it justice, you will have to see it for yourself.
We were lucky and were able to find shelter right before a rain storm hit. We didn't mind spending more time just gazing out at the Hamlet. The storm blew over rather quickly and the sun was back out bright and cheery so we kept exploring. The weather here changes every hour.
Free restrooms are hard to come by and they're always harder to find when you really need one. It also doesn't help when you are in a garden full of fountains.
