June 17th

Today we are going to just head out and check out the city of Paris.

We walked to the Arc de Triomphe and payed our respects to the tomb of the unknown soldier.

Then down the Champs Elysees towards the River Seine.  We stopped by The Grand and Petit Palais.

We could see the Les Invalides from the river which is a complex of buildings containing museums and monuments, all relating to the military history of France, as well as a hospital and a retirement home for war veterans.

While we were walking along the Seine Mike was approached by a women that had stopped him to ask if he had lost his gold wedding band.  Of course he hadn't but she went on to show him that it was real gold and that she was not in need of a mans wedding band so if he wanted it he could have it.  We had realized what was going on so we told him to come on (it is one of the scams that the Gypsies use to get money from you).  We hadn't walked all that much further but low and behold someone else thought Mike might have dropped his wedding ring.  It got to the point we would just laugh at them and they knew that we already knew it was a scam.

We walked by the Assemblee Nationale

We walked across the most romantic bridge in Paris le Pont des Arts.

Which led us to the Louvre where Mike decided to play in the water.

We also passed by the Opera House on our way back to our apartment.

What can I say walking in Paris is romantic.

Of course after all that walking we worked up an appetite.  So Pam and I made a ham and cheese quiche and a ham & mushroom croissant tart and served it with fresh bread so as you can see we did not mix colors too much.
