July 8, 2013 - Rail Jet to Budapest

We did not have to walk to the Wien Westbanhof thank goodness but got to take the metro instead.  We had booked 1st class tickets for our journey to Budapest, as it was the longest of our train rides.  We knew from past experience that with the 1st class ticket you can take advantage of the OBB lounge, which we did.

I will say the nice thing about traveling first class is that you get a little more room, the chairs recline and they have power outlets at each seat.
They have two seats on one side and one seat on the other.  We also had wifi while we were in Germany, but once we crossed the border into Hungry it was gone.

Well when we got off the train in Budapest we found out that the metro was not running so we were accosted by taxi drivers, but we turned them down and set off.....you guessed it walking.

Luckily it wasn't that far really, but we were hot and tired when we got to our apartment.

We were greeted by the agent who showed us around the apartment.  There are three keys that we have to use to get in the front door which is not an easy task to do.

This is a picture of Elaine & Fred's room.  Yes that is a crystal chandelier hanging above their bed.

They have a small on suite bathroom.

This is our room and yes we have a chandelier also.

This is the view from our window.  Now the thing we have found is that this is a town that does not sleep.  There were cars and people out all night.  It can get a little loud if you wanted to sleep with the window open but it was so warm that we had the even louder room air conditioner on.  I slept fine since I was wearing ear plugs but Roger on the other hand did not..

This is Amanda's room.  Now let me just say that this is the view into her room from our room.

This is the view into her room through the bathroom that we share.  So pretty much her only way in and out is either through our room or the bathroom.

Our bathroom is larger as it also has a tub/shower.

And in European style the toilet is in another room.  I really like this concept because it makes sharing a bathroom much easier.

We have a large kitchen with a nice dinning table.

And an actual laundry room with a large washer and an American dryer.

We decided to go to the store to get something for dinner but poor Elaine had to wait as I had to run back to the apartment.

These are the items we bought.
These are the items Elaine bought.
Do you know what kind of meat this is?  We didn't really know either but someone told us it was a mix of meat.  When we got back to the apartment I google translated it and it is a mix of minced pork and beef.

It was nice to be able to eat in.

All the food was very yummy.

In case someone is interested in this apartment you can find it here.
