So we set off walking again.
Well we thought we were going to take a short cut through the Burggarten.
This garden had been the garden of the castle.
In what used to be the orangery is now a restaurant.
To think this is a small back yard for a castle.
You have to admire the architecture of all the buildings.
We found that there was no where to go through so we we had to turn around and head back, but it was a nice detour.
The castle holds a few different museums, government offices and the national library.
Included with the ticket was an audio guide.
Of course there are more stairs.
Now we just have to figure out which way to go.
The Ephesos museum
had quite a few pieces.
including a Parthian Monument.
They had a model of the Ephesos area.
Upstairs they had all kinds of musical instruments.
Let me just say that they said that this area was air conditioned, well they lied. It was very hot and with no air movement we were dying.
It led into the armor area.
They had a lot of displays.
You can miss the beautiful artwork.
Most of the rooms are artwork themselves.
We got tired of waiting for......
yep you guessed it. Roger loves museums and can spend hours and hours in them.
We then split with Fred and Elaine. We headed out to find an ice-cream shop that I had found on Trip Adviser. First though we stopped to fill up our water bottles.
We also happened along St. Peters church.
The thing that was a little disturbing is that it had two crypts that were glass, one on each side of the church.
We kept walking to St. Stephen's and then found the street we wanted. Roger had saved the page on his phone so he could look up the address we wanted.
We found it but just before we got there a man handed us a flyer for a restaurant having a special for wiener schnitzel. So we went back to him and he led us down the hall to the Hinterholz.
This place has a lot of charm.
He sat us in the garden.
The food was really good. Just remember if you order ketchup it is going to cost you, here it was ,70 euro, which amounts to about 1 American dollar.
So when we were done went practically next door and got our ice-cream at Eis Greissler. We did have stand in line but it went pretty fast.
My new favorite flavor of ice-cream is hazelnut.
We walked down to the canal.
Where we got to see some very colorful graffiti.
And an interesting political poster.
We headed back to the apartment along the ring road. We of course couldn't pass a church without going inside.
This one was very dark inside.
But it had beautiful stained glass windows.
We got back to the apartment, took a cool shower and relaxed for the rest of the evening. Elaine & Fred took a ride on the trolley that goes around the ring of the city.
