July 4, 2013 - Kunst Historisches Museum & Kaiserliche Schatzkammer

Breakfast Not sure if I like it just because it has yummy chocolate pieces in it.  It is very different.  It has raw oatmeal, some type of chocolate crunchy cereal, a corn flake and chocolate pieces.

We were heading over to the Treasury Museum (Kaiserliche Schatzkammer) when we saw a military band about to play.

There were two medical transport vehicles that brought people in, but we are not sure what was going on.

The Treasury Museum has the coronation robes of the Habsburgs,

 their crowns & scepters,

the future King of Rome's bassinet,

and many other valuables.

There were many religious artifacts.

But if what they say is true then the most valuable items in this museum to me are these.

They say there is documentation to prove that this is the nail that pierced Jesus right hand.

The arrow at the left is supposed to be the sword tip that pierced Jesus side.  The cross in the middle holds a sliver of the crucifixion cross and the cross on the right is a larger piece of the crucifixion cross.

We decided that before we headed to the art museum ( Kunst Historisches Museum) we would go get lunch.

We took the scenic route through the Volksgarten,

On our way to Rathaus Platz and the international food booths.

We ended up with some Greek, Japanese & Chinese food.

And some ice-cream for dessert.

The building that holds the art museum is beautiful.

This statue makes a very impressive first impression.

Amanda recognized these paintings from Desperate Housewives.

Fred listens to his audio guide.

We just couldn't get over how they can carve such intricate pieces.
Elaine checks out all the different currency used throughout the years.

We ended up separating from the guys and headed to the shopping area.  While Fred headed back to the apartment and Roger kept looking at the museum.  Amanda and I got back to the apartment before Roger did.  Luckily the apartment owner lent me her keys so we could get in.
