They are inviting little areas that just make you want to sit a while.
We had a nice breakfast at the hotel.
It was a nice dinning area that made you feel at home. Elaine & Fred talked to the owners and found out that the hotel had been in the family since 1950 and that the building itself is 300 years old.
Then we headed for the town church. In the area right outside the church is the cemetery.
They are so pretty but yet have so much history.
The organ is a piece of art itself.
The ceilings had so much detail in a pretty not gaudy way.
Elaine being naughty.
While Elaine and Roger went to the bakery again. Amanda and I went back to the hotel to take pictures.
This is the side of the hotel so if you book a second floor you have a balcony plus only one flight of stairs.
One of the reasons we picked Oberammergau to stay the night at was because it was close to the Linderhof Castle.
As we were walking up to the castle Amanda thought she would get friendly with the swans swimming in the lake. They didn't want to be friendly and she got hissed at.
This was his only castle that he actually completed.
The fountain would come on every hour on the hour.
The way that this waterfall cascaded down to the fountain was really cool to look at, of course you can't see that in the picture.
The side gardens were also very pretty.
Another side garden.
I would strongly recommend that you get a ticket if it is needed to go in the grotte. After we climbed the hill to go in they had a sign showing certain times to go in but they had pictures that looked intriguing.
Fred & Elaine are taking in the views.
We then continued our journey to Munich. We ate the pastry, that Roger had bought earlier, on the way.
What a mess it was trying to get to the hotel with all the road construction going on. Roger dropped me off on the street and I ran in to register as he drove back around the block. He ended up parking around the corner and we had to all make a couple of trips to unload the car. Then Roger and I set out to find a gas station to fill the rental up so we could take it and drop it off. We had decided instead of paying for parking for the night we would take it
Augustiner Bergmannshof |
front desk where she would recommend for dinner and she told us Augustiner Keller, but when we got there they were packed and asked us if we had reservations, which of course we did not. He told Elaine and Roger that there was no way we would get in without reservations so he sent us to Augustiner Bermannshof. After walking that far we were starving. I forgot to mention we did all this walking in the rain.
Amanda had wiener schnitzel for dinner along with an Augustiner Weizenbier.
Roger had the 1/2 a crispy pork knuckle with potato dumplings and cabbage salad with a Augustiner dark beer.
Luckily it stopped raining so our walk back to the hotel was dry.
