June 22, 2013 - Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim

We decided to walk down to the Barbarossa  bakery, which is just down the street from Hailey's house, this morning for breakfast.

We tried out an assortment of pastries.  The guys liked the coffee so much they are going back tomorrow.

Today it was back to just Elaine, Fred, Roger and I going to the Auto & Technik Museum in Sinsheim since Hailey is on call and can't be more than a half hour from base and Amanda had a little to much fun last night.  There were so many people there due to a miniature train show that it was really hard to find a parking place.  The nice thing is we found one not to far away and it was FREE.

The cost for just the museum is 14 Euros and with the Imax (which we did not do) was 19 Euros

They first walked through all the miniature train exhibitors.  I couldn't handle all the people and waited outside.  They had almost anything you could want for your train set here for sale.  I did not see any train car for under 90 Euros and Fred saw an engine for over 8.000,00 Euros. (For those that thought I put the period and the comma in the wrong place, I did not, that is how they write out their prices.)

We had gotten separated from Fred & Elaine so we headed up to the planes first.  The little planes shook a little with people walking in them and between that and that they were on a slant both sideways and upwards I got nauseous walking in them so after the first little one I would just stick my head inside to see what I could see from there and then waited outside for Roger.

This is how much they lean.  He is trying to just stand straight up.

Sorry that it is sideways.  I forget that I can't turn them around like you can a picture.

The video was from inside the Russian plane. We walked through that and the Concord.  As far as the insides of both planes their passenger seats were about the same.

But their control panels looked totally different.

They have all kinds of cars,

history making vehicles,

trains,

 baby carriages,

sewing machines, and many others.

But I loved the organs.

When we finished the one building we headed out to see if we could find Fred and Elaine.  Elaine saw us and called us over to the other building.  They had already finished going through that building which had tanks and other military vehicles and had had lunch.  So Roger went in to meet up with Fred and see some of those items while I sat outside in the cool air with Elaine.  Roger wanted to slide down the tube that went from the plane, which is on top of the building, to the ground floor of the building.

They told us how yummy their lunch had been so we went and ate spatzle with turkey and a mushroom gravy.  Then it was time to head back to Hailey's.  Along the way we saw a huge plum of black smoke rising in the air.

Tonight was nice because we got home early and was able to have some quality family time with Hailey.  Firs it was a movie.

Then we had dinner.

The guys cleaned up.

We had our nightly air show.

Every day we have planes flying in and or out of the base and their flight path is right out the window of Hailey's house.  This picture does not show how close it really is.

Then it was game time.
