Where the guy in the red jacket is standing in the middle of this picture on the raised area is where the public hangings would happen and where the term kicked the bucket started. The person being hung would stand on a bucket as he was hung by a rope and they would kick the bucket out from under him or her.
The last bus we took took us out to the Royal Yacht Britannia.
The storage of all of the signal flags.
The Crew Dining room.
See the Corgi on the arm of the sofa. They were placed in different rooms and you were supposed to count them and at the end of the tour give them the count to win a prize.
The Queens Bedroom
The Prince's Bedroom
This was the honeymoon cabin. The only cabin with a full size bed. Prince Charles had it installed when he and Diana were going to use the yacht for their honeymoon.
There were some different areas for officers/staff/crew members to relax.
Each one of them had a fully stocked bar. I am sure they are still stocked because you can rent out the yacht for a special occasion.
The China Room
The silver cabinet that had to be polished on a daily basis.
The Royal Dinning Room
They even take Conch shells from the mediterranean.
The Queen's office because she still had to work everyday even while at sea.
The crew didn't have it quite so nice.
Of course they had to travel with a band to play for all the ceremonies that they might be a part of. They could have to change uniforms 6 times a day and bring along up to 26 different uniforms. I can not imagine where they would store them in their cabins.
Roger getting some royal fudge.
Dave and Cheryl found a comfortable place to sit and wait for us.
Mail was delivered daily to the ship no matter where it might be in the world.
The ship infirmary has a cute patient.
You can only imagine if people have to change at least 6 times a day how much laundry would come through here in a day. Of course you can't wash the royal families laundry along with the rest of those on board.
The royal barge would take them to shore when the ship couldn't actually dock at the pier.
They said that the engine room was always kept this clean.
The ship crew dinning room doesn't quite have the elegance that the other dinning rooms have but I bet they were much more fun. Cheryl got the number of Corgi's correct (14) and she won a pin. As we were leaving it was raining and the bus was full of people so Dave and I had to go up to the top and sit in the rain. It wasn't to bad as long as the bus kept moving but when it stopped we had to hunker down to not get drenched. Of course Cheryl could have told us that seats had opened up downstairs but since she could hear me laughing she thought we were having a good time. Finally when we thought we were close enough to the apartment we ran down when the bus stopped and told them that we were getting off with or without them. They quickly followed us off the bus.
We stopped off at a Turkish restaurant to pick something up for dinner.
The rain doesn't stop us from having a good time.
The guys plated our meal up for us.
Of course they had to get some fries with their Shwarma.
