July 20, 2015 - Coimbra to Porto

This morning after a late breakfast at the hotel we just wandered the narrow little streets to see what else there was to see.

Google translate made a little mistake or did they mean brake as in stop.
We climbed up and down a lot of stairs this morning.

This church was at the highest point that we climbed.

This church was at the lower part of the city.  So are you more committed the higher you climb to get to church?

Does anyone need a math tutor?
Scouts are coming our way.
I told them we would buy a pin if we could take a picture.
Our patio was more than 3 times the size of our hotel room.
Would you like strawberries from the sink or the toilet?
After our walk about we went back to the hotel and gathered our luggage and Fred & Elaine and headed to the train station.
The Coimbra A train station is where we caught a suburb train to Coimbra B station.
Where we got to sit and wait for over an hour for our train to Porto.
We switched trains at Porto Campanha station to the Sao Bento station

We had a major adventure finding our apartment.  We were in some narrow little walk ways trying to find the street which really isn't a street.  It was hot and we were lost. We had some friendly locals really trying to help us.  Lucky for us the landlord found me while we were asking someone else for help that was in the restaurant right below the apartment.
You could not ask for a better view in Porto than from our window.

We had to climb 2 flight of stairs to get up to the door of the apartment and then 2 more flights of stairs once inside.  I think I may tile the walls of my house when I get home.
The wall right in front of the door that leads up to our apartment.

There are a lot of vendors selling the same things for the same price all along the water front .

This part of town is filled will narrow walk ways that are filled with tiny restaurants.

We wanted to order a local specialty called the Francesinha.  Roger had his with an egg on top.
Elaine had fried cod.
Fred went with a sample burger.  What he really wanted was Burger King.

As we were walking along we saw these crazy guys that had striped down to their underwear and were diving into the river.  The Viking cruise passengers didn't like when they started climbing up on the side of the boat and jumping in from the balconies.
We just sat and watched the show.
Good night from Porto.
