Planning for Alaska 2014

Well it is time to get ready for a wonderful family cruise to Alaska vacation. Our shirts are ordered from customink and should be here in a couple of weeks.  We had some good and bad news come from Carnival.  They canceled our stop in Ketchikan. The guys are sad about this because they were going to go fishing.  The good news is that we will get to spend more time in Juneau and Victoria B.C..  They will be giving us a 25% discount on our next cruise so we may be doing another family cruise in the caribbean for Christmas/New Years 2015/2016.

We booked The Moore Hotel in Seattle for a few days before the cruise.  Wow are hotels expensive in Seattle during the summer.  This was actually the cheapest hotel I could find in the downtown area.

I have been working on our shore excursions and since the rest of the family has not gone to Alaska before we will be doing a couple of the same excursions as before, like renting a car in Juneau and going on Dyea Dave Emerald Lake Tour.

This time though some of us will do the Tracy Arm Fjord excursion through Carnival.  When we were on the cruise last time we were really wishing that we had done this excursion.  You have to pre-book this excursion before the cruise sets sail.  They pick you up while cruising the fjord and take you up closer to the shore and the glacier.


I am working on our excursion for Victoria to go out to the Butchart Gardens and a city tour, since we are arriving at 3:00 pm this time, with Fresh Air Tours.
