Well we got notified this week that they had changed our flight from a non-stop red eye flight from Los Angeles to Fort Lauderdale to a flight with a 3 hour layover in Dallas. So I called them to let them know that I was not ok with this change and also the change that they made to my husbands return flight. I must say they were very helpful in this regard. First while was checking for flights from LA to Ft. Lauderdale I told her that it would benefit us if we could fly out of Fresno since that is the closest airport to us and would you believe they let us do that. So now instead of having to drive four hours to LAX we have about a 15 minute drive. You may wonder why we were driving to LAX to begin with well that was because we were able to save over $300 a piece to drive down but still fly back into FAT. So we were able to book our tickets at no cost to us since we had our vouchers from last years vacation. Then we had to reschedule Roger's flight because they had changed his return flight from 9:20 am to a 7:40 am flight. There is no way he could get off the ship and check in at the airport in time. Well there might be but who would want to chance that. I was sweating the fact that our flight is for 8:20 am on the day Amanda & I fly home. So we re-booked his flight for a 5:00 pm flight. Which is exactly what we ended up doing with Amandas and my flight a few days later when we got the notice that our return flight was changed also. So all of this to let you know that if you have a flight change that the airline is responsible for they (or at least American Airlines) will do their best to help you. They were very friendly and even a few days later I received a call to make sure that all was taken care of.
This was all done at no extra charge to me. Now I did ask them about switching dates for Roger's return flight but that would have cost $300, so I said no thank you.
